The HPR Club is the founder of the versatile gundog movement in South Africa and was started some 33 years ago by a group of enthusiasts wishing to develop and improve the natural abilities of the versatile breeds that hunt, point and retrieve. Since then our club has grown to the largest gundog club in South Africa.

Our club subscribes to international gundog working standards through our association and membership of the

Weltverband Deutsch Kurzhaar.

This book is a comprehensive account of the history, achievements, utilization, records, and upkeep of the versatile gundog and in particular the German Short Haired Pointer in South Africa. The book contains advice and tips from the top versatile gundog trainers in the country.
